Privacy policy

Marmalade is a game by Ryan Wiggill ("we", "us"). This policy covers this website and anything you send us about the game. We are the responsible party under POPIA. You can reach us through the contact form.

What we collect

Why we use it

You give us bug reports and feedback voluntarily, and we ask you to tick a box agreeing to the above before you send one. We only collect what the form asks for.

We do not sell your personal information.

Analytics and cookies

If you accept, Google Analytics sets cookies (named like _ga) and sends information about your visit to Google, which processes it on our behalf. We ask Google to shorten IP addresses. If you decline, nothing from Google loads and no analytics cookies are set. You can change your mind at any time with Cookie settings in the footer, and you can clear cookies in your browser settings.

Google may process this information on servers outside South Africa. Google's own privacy policy explains how it handles data.

Who sees it

Only us, and the services we use to run the site and receive your email: our web host and email provider, and Google if you accept analytics. They handle information for us and aren't allowed to use it for their own purposes, other than as their own terms describe. We don't share your report with anyone else unless the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep bug reports and feedback for as long as we need to respond and to work on the issue, and then delete them. [Retention period to be confirmed.] Analytics data is kept for the period set in our Google Analytics account.

Your rights

Under POPIA you can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, and withdraw your consent at any time. Use the contact form, choose "Privacy request", and we'll respond. If you aren't happy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to South Africa's Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.

Children

This site isn't aimed at children. If you're under 18, please ask a parent or guardian before sending us anything.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top. Material changes will be flagged on the site.
